Game Day Report

River Light are still undefeated this season, but drew to Minneapolis City in the

last play of the game.

The home team sporting teal and yellow found their goal in the last play of the first half. A foul awarded River Light a free kick taken by Quanah Brayboy that found Tomasz Slawek for the header.

“We set up our set pieces as we do, and they play flat in the zone so it’s super easy to find some space and I got the good header and got the good connection,” Slawek said.

Entering the second half with the lead gave River Light a competitive edge. The remaining 45 was a constant physical battle as Minnesota City was looking for the equalizer. River Light held the opponents to zero shots in the first, but that number rose to 12 in the second. But with no fruition in the goal by Minnesota City, River Light held onto the lead.

Until the very last touch of the game when a free kick was awarded just outside the 18, and soared straight through the wall to end the match in a draw.

River Light heads to Minnesota to face St. Croix Soccer Club on May 29th, searching for another win in the campaign.

“We’re excited to be undefeated two games in, but there’s a whole lot of football to be played,” Slawek said
