Thursday night started with energy at Spartan Athletic Park due to food trucks, a live DJ and local youth teams showing their support for River Light.
Lightning then began to strike heavily, but despite an hour delay, the lights were still preparing to cook up a storm.
River Light had lost the first meeting against Sueno FC, a talented team out of Bolingbrook,
who currently sit at the top of the Heartland Divsion with just one loss.
While the men improved overall passing accuray across the two matches from 82.9% to 85.7%, not much else was successful. The amount of shots dwindled down from 14 to just eight, with only two of those on target.
There was a glimmer of hope, however, when a long ball sent up to Wyatt Borso found the back of the goal in the 33rd minute, equalizing Sueno's opening goal ten minutes prior.
Going into the second half tied at one a piece, both teams were battling to find the winning goal. Sueno FC would not only find that in the 64th, but two additional goals in the 71st and 75th minute to soar past with a 4-1 win.
The men now stand at fifth in the Heartland Division with a 2-5 record. They face St. Croix FC, who sit just below River Light in the table, at 4 p.m. on Sunday at home. Come out to show support to get an at home win!
